Tonight I was visiting with a friend who had just had a baby. I was holding this new little guy and loving every moment. I looked over at his car seat and that’s when I saw it. The blanket I had crocheted for his brother six years ago.
A few weeks ago, I was on Facebook and saw a picture of a young couple’s daughter. She was cuddled up with the blanket I made them for their wedding.

The thing about crochet gifts is that they take quite a journey. Any gift is precious, but a crochet gift is something that takes hours and hours of a person’s time. Obviously we wouldn’t spend the time if it wasn’t something we enjoyed and the amount of time doesn’t necessarily have any effect on the receiver. For some a crochet blanket is the same as wine glasses they registered for or even just another thing that wasn’t on their registry but they can’t take it back because it’s handmade.

So, when I see a gift in use, it absolutely warms my heart. When I know that it is something that is being used, possibly even something that has become cherished, that is extra special. That is why I do what I do.

I know just what you mean!
On another note, I found a crocheted throw at an estate sale last summer. All of the furniture and big items had already been sold and the only things left were going to be put in the trash. That is when I spotted this work of ❤️ and had to have it. It has become the favorite when anyone is wanting to cuddle up in the living room And to think it almost went into the trash…
