I feel like I’m cashing in my wild card this week. The wild card is the blanket card…arguably the easiest project to accomplish with granny squares. But being easy doesn’t make it boring. If you’ve been reading my blog, you know that I started my Granny Square Gauntlet (a challenge to crochet 100 squares in 100 days… Continue reading Gauntlet Project 7: Baby Blanket
I don’t think I ever looked at the name of the pattern before typing it into the headline right now. Are we saying that Grandma’s off her rocker? Fortunately for Granny, the title has nothing to do with her and everything to do with … you guessed it … granny squares! Early in the spring,… Continue reading Granny Goes Random—Two Ways
Red Heart did me dirty. I had most of a skein left from a previous project and I errantly thought I could crochet an entire blanket from it. I was wrong. So, I did what I normally do. I ordered another skein. The dye lots did not match. My blanket was unsalvageable… I thought. In… Continue reading Mismatched Skeins
The pattern for this blanket is availble for purchase HERE for $4.99. I post a lot of baby blankets. I admit it. They are my favorite thing to make. When a friend of ours announced she was having another baby, I knew I had to make it personalized because baby’s big sister Ruth got the… Continue reading Personalized Baby Name Blanket (Paid Pattern)
Last May, I saw a pattern for a flower blanket advertised on Facebook and knew I had to make it. I downloaded the pattern and immediately shopped for the yarn. The Gradient Garden Blanket is made using Premier Cotton Fair Bulky yarn. I don’t make too many items using cotton yarn. This was a blend… Continue reading Stitching Spring Flowers
One of the biggest things to consider when starting a new blanket is what yarn to use. There are do many options out there: acrylic, cotton, wool, bamboo, or a blend of all of the above. I tend towards acrylic because it is easy to crochet with and easy to take care of. Plus, it… Continue reading Just a Little Yarn…About Yarn
In the crafter world, there is a phrase that makes us feel better about ourselves. We’re “getting our Ph.D.–Projects Half Done.” Right now, I’m on a quest to get my P.H.D.D.–moving my projects half done to done! In the past week, I’ve completed two (plus one yarn stash buster). I began this lap blanket last… Continue reading Getting My P.H.D. … D
It’s no secret that I’m a pile person. There are piles on tables, in the corners, on the guest bed. In fact, I had to move a pile of school books just to sit down and write this post. One pile has been bothering me lately–my crochet pile! Next to my seat in the living… Continue reading Simply Soft and Finished
I love temperature blankets. I have made them a number of times and created my own patterns. I even made temperature ornaments as an alternative. But right now, I have crocheter’s block. Last night I wrote down the temps for 2026 so far. I attempted to make a granny hexagon. I frogged it and tried… Continue reading To Temp or Not to Temp
I absolutely refuse to do commissions for people I don’t know. But for people I do know? The sky’s the limit. During this holiday season, I chose to take on two commissions that I knew I could complete (one did not have a holiday deadline. The first is this absolutely adorable beard hat for a… Continue reading Ending the Year with Commissions
