Color Block Blanket (Alternate Border)

When I was working on the pattern for the Color Block Baby Blanket, I made two different colors. Part of this was so I could refine the pattern and make sure I had it right. The other reason was that I fell in love with the yarn.

Bernat Baby Softee Chunky yarn is thick and super soft. It works up very quickly into a baby blanket (or any blanket, really). I needed to make more.

So this pink and brown version is my Pink Color Block Baby Blanket, but the girly colors meant I could be a little more girly with the border. To make this blanket, use the pattern I posted yesterday here.

Then complete it with this border.

Alternate Border 1

Round 1: Attach B with sl st to any stitch. Ch 1. SC in each st across with 3 SC in every corner. Work 2 SC in the side of all DC on the long sides of the blanket. Join with sl st to first st.

Round 2: Ch 1. SC in each st across with 3 SC in every corner. Join with sl st to first st.

Round 3: Repeat Round 2. Fasten off.

Round 4: Attach A with sl st to any st. Ch 1. SC in each st around with 3 SC in every corner. Join with sl st to first st. Fasten off.

Round 5: In any corner st (middle of the three SC), attach C by sl st and ch 2 or standing DC. Work 4 more DC in the same st. *Skip 2 st. SC in next st. Skip 2 st. Work 5 DC in next st.* Work from * to * around making sure to have a 5DC shell in every corner space. You may have to be flexible with your counts in order to have the pattern work out correctly. That means somewhere along the side you may have to skip 1 st or skip 3 st to get it to work. (Feel free to ask me more about this. No one will notice if you fudge it once or twice).
