Eclectic Yarn

I went to Michael’s the other day for yarn to finish a project (I never buy enough and then end up getting too much!), but they didn’t have what I was looking for. It would have been wrong to walk out the door empty handed with a coupon in hand, right?

Of course I bought yarn!

The Bernat Mix Baby Yarn is a combination of four coordinating yarns each with a different texture. It is quite an eclectic mix. This is great in theory, but it is not necessarily the easiest to choose a pattern for. I’ll make my own.

I’ve chosen a linear pattern with an understated motif. I think it would look great in a single color/single texture yarn as well. I hope to have the blanket completed and the pattern up on the blog soon.

This is not my first experience with this yarn. My Bread and Butter throw was made using the JoAnn’s version Bernat Bundle. For this throw, I used the outside edge of this pattern. The texture is definitely different, but it is soft and cozy and there were very few ends to weave in. (If you just love this blanket, it’s for sale here.)

I also did a simple corner-to-corner blanket in another color way. This one is called the Bouncing Baby Blanket. This small blanket used only two skeins of yarn, but is so cuddly. (Click this link to purchase.)

Once you overcome the intricacies of this yarn, it is really fun to work with. The result is eclectic and one of a kind. Have you ever made anything with this yarn? I’d love to see pictures.
