To Fair or Not to Fair?

Two years ago, I had my first table at a craft fair. It was a cold, windy day in late April. I almost got hit by an overturned tent. Yet somehow I ended up with one of the worst sunburns I’ve ever had. It was an experience for sure.

From a business standpoint, I didn’t have many sales–just couple of purses and some dishrags. By the time I got some coffee, I think my profits were gone.

On the plus side, I sat next to a young lady who’s pottery was selling like hotcakes. We had some great conversations, and I had a great time over all.

Fast forward six months.

I did another table at a local college’s homecoming. I was stocked with scarves, but the sun came out. It got warm. Scarves were the furthest thing from people’s minds. I don’t think I made a profit on that one.

I know that profit isn’t the only reason to have a booth. It’s exposure. It’s relationship-building. In those aspects, I really enjoyed both of my booths.

Why do I bring this up? I’ve got a closet full of scarves, blankets, various other items. The event that I went to the first time is happening on again on a date when I’m free.

To fair or not to fair? That is the question…
