Temperature blanket

In the Summertime

When we younger, my best friend and I used to listen to Oldies—real Oldies from the 50s and 60s (the 80s aren’t oldies, people!). One song she loved and that I remember calling the radio station to request was “Summertime” by Mungo Jerry. The rhythm and beat of the song are just fun! It has the feel of a carefree summer.

Summers are no longer completely carefree, but on days when nothing is planned and the sun is shining and it’s warm, but not too warm—on those days I’m reminded of what summers used to be: not a care in the world, doing something fun, and hanging out with friends.

I haven’t had a chance to crochet the June square of my temperature blanket, so I don’t have any of official “summertime” mapped out yet. However, April and May have given me a taste of what is to come, and it’s beautiful. I can’t wait to see how all of the squares work together.

We’ve gone from greens and blues to yellows, oranges, and reds. The contrast is running. The warmest temperature in May was 86 degrees and the lowest was 36. No blues at all!

Last year, I also tracked precipitation in my blanket. This year, I chose not to do that. However will I be able to remember that we got many more rainy days than sunny ones (sarcasm detected). It has been such a rainy year.

But today is sunny and warm, but not too warm, and I haven’t a care in the world.

You can find the pattern for this blanket here and information about all of my temperature blankets here.
