Temperature blanket

When the Husband “Helps”

My husband is a visionary. He has great ideas and the ability to actually make them happen. This is why he ran a mission organization for 20+ years before settling into the full-time pastorate.

But not every idea he has is a good one. Today I was fretting over the size of the temperature blanket I am currently working on. He took it upon himself to come up with some alternatives.

  • The Four Seasons Blanket: Track the weather two weeks before and after each season change in the year. The blanket will be smaller.
  • The Meteorologist’s Blanket: This blanket would just do the first day from each month and feature the high and low temperature, precipitation, wind speed, and maybe migrating bird patterns?
  • The Junk Food Blanket: Assign a color to each of the food groups and track what we’ve been eating each day. Use the blanket to make us feel bad about all the junk we eat.
  • The Travel Blanket: Assign colors to the distance we travel from home each day. For us we’d have assign colors to one-mile increments because we never go anywhere.
    • Blue: < one mile. Maybe we walked the dog or went to the park
    • Green: 1.1-2 miles. Maybe we took a long walk or drove downtown to the dog groomer.
    • Yellow: 2.1-3 miles. This would get us to the grocery store and church.
    • Orange: 3.1-25 miles. This would get us to a few different friend’s houses.
    • Red: 26-60 miles. For those rare trips to Pittsburgh.
    • Variegated neon yarn: For anything over 60 miles that just rocks our world.

What do you think? Would you make any of these blankets?

My husband, who I love more than anything, is a data geek who has a spreadsheet for everything. I’m sure he would love for me to track many more things. For now, I’m going to stick with the weather.

Peace out–Heidi
