Crochet blankets are a labor of love. That’s what makes them the perfect gift.

I just finished a new pattern for the FLUFFY INITIAL BLANKET, which takes warm, fuzzy, fluffy, cozy Bernat Blanket Yarn and combines it with the personal touch of a monogram. This blanket would be great to give for birthdays, graduations, weddings, anniversaries, Christmas, or just because.

(While we all know my favorite things to make are baby blankets, I don’t suggest this for a baby. The super-bulky yarn leaves holes that a baby’s hand could get stuck in. If you choose to use a baby-weight or DK yarn, it would be fine for a baby.)

What pictures can’t tell you is how fluffy these blankets really are. Their finished size is 51 inches square, and they probably weigh at least 5 pounds each. Heavy, cuddly, warm. This type of yarn is a favorite in the world of amigurumi, but the thick yarn does make it a little difficult to weave in and hide the ends. The benefit of using this yarn far outweighs that slight inconvenience. The blankets work up much more quickly than blankets of the same size using a lighter-weight yarn.

While I have personally only made the T and M blankets, this pattern contains graphs for all 26 letters of the English language. When you buy this pattern, you are basically getting 26 for the price of one!
