The Perfect Wedding Blanket (Paid Pattern)

This pattern can be purchased in my Etsy shop for $4.99.

This blanket has been two years in the making. Not because it’s hard, but because it got pushed aside a number of times for other things.

It is the perfect wedding gift that can be personalized with the happy couple’s monogram and will be sure to become an instant heirloom. Chapter 13 of 1 Corinthians is read at almost every wedding. Every time the couple uses this blanket, they will be reminded of their happy day. (Note: This is my paraphrased version of 1 Corinthians 13 verses 4-8. I could not fit the entire passage on a blanket.)

If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that I love the corner-to-corner crochet method because of its versatility. It’s basically an empty slate that can be filled in as you would a piece of graph paper. Over the years, I have discovered that making panels, which are sewn together at the end, is a good way to ensure you don’t get lost in the graph and that the yarns don’t have time to get too tangled. I have often cut the yarns in frustration instead of unraveling or making sure they don’t tangle in the first place. This is something that happens whenever you do color work.

Because I’ve made so many blankets like this with words, I have come up with a primer (cheat) for making sure the letters look connected and don’t have pixelated gaps. I include that primer along with a brief review of the corner-to-corner method with the pattern.

I used Paintbox Simply Aran (worsted weight) in a variety of colors for this blanket. I probably would not use the lightest gray next time or use it with a different background color so it can be read more easily. Up close and personal, you will not have a problem reading it.

My completed blanket without a border measured 48×64″. A border can be added and a suggestion has been included with the pattern along with suggested join methods.

There are so many options for this blanket. You can mix up the backgrounds like I did for this blanket. You can use favorite colors or wedding colors.

If you start on this blanket now, you’ll have it ready in time for next spring’s shower or next summer’s wedding. I will likely make this pattern again and again. After all, it’s the perfect wedding gift.

This pattern can be purchased in my Etsy shop for $4.99.

Keep stitching, Heidi
