Crochet Along

The Outside-In Square

Every two weeks I look forward to the new square pattern for my Moogly CAL. This week when I opened the page, I said, “Wow.” It is a seriously beautiful square.

The Crocodile Dahlia Square by Katie D. Creations, contained a stitch I was familiar with–the crocodile stitch, but the block was worked from the outside in. What?! I’ve never seen a pattern like that before! That’s one of the reasons I do crochet alongs: to learn new stitches and make things I might not have thought to make before. Thankfully, the author included a video, which when watched beforehand, made the pattern not too hard. It definitely helped me. Still, the crocodile stitch takes a little bit of time to master because you have to move your work this way and then that way while you’re working on it. The end result was well worth it!

I tried to fit this project into my super, busy Thursday, but unfortunately, I had to put it down after row 4! It resembled a sunflower picture frame at this point! I might have to practice with this technique again. It really was fun.

I love, love, love this square. I’m totally tempted to make another one.

The Moogly CAL 2018, is shaping up to be a beautiful, eclectic blanket.
