Sunburst Square

I can’t get enough of the Personlized Baby Blocks Blanket. There are so many options of how to personalize it. This time I opted to do initials with sunbursts in the corner.

You can buy the pattern here. But the Sunburst Square pattern is free here.

This blanket was made for a little guy born just last week. I used Sirdar Snuggly and Sirdar Snuggly spots yarn. I only needed two skeins of each for a total of around $30. That’s not a bad price for a blanket. This green and tan color combo could be used for a boy or a girl.

The patchwork is more defined than when I used variegated yarn for the squares. I like both effects.

Sunburst Square

For use in the Personlized Baby Blocks Blanket or a stand alone blanket.

Notes: If doing this square in strip one, change the CDC to a dc and the Ch 2 Join to a ch 2.

Special Stiches:
CDC—Connecting Double Crochet
Ch 2 Join—Chain 2 Join

Watch this video for an explanation of these two stitches or see this blog post for a written explanation.

I decided to do the border a little differently on this blanket.

Back Loop Border

Round 1: Sc in each st across. 3 sc in corner st. 2 sc in each row down. Repeat around blanket.

Round 2: Ch 1. In BLO (back loop only) sc in each st around with 3 sc in each corner. Sl st to first st.

Rounds 3-5: Repeat Round 2. Fasten off and weave in ends.
